As an Electrical Apprentice at Zekelman Industries, you’ll support licensed electricians in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems across industrial construction projects. This role is perfect for someone who’s eager to learn, has a strong work ethic, and is committed to developing hands-on skills in a fast-paced, safety-driven environment. You’ll gain valuable experience working with electrical systems, tools, and equipment while building the foundation for a future career in the trades. Responsibilities include assisting licensed electricians by handling materials, prepping work areas, supporting installations under supervision, performing conduit bending, helping install switchgear, panels, starters, and other electrical equipment, pulling, routing, and terminating electrical wire across job sites, installing lighting fixtures, controls, and electrical devices, troubleshooting electrical systems with guidance, maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment, following all safety protocols including proper PPE usage and hazard awareness, reading and understanding safety rules, policies, and material safety data sheets (MSDS), supporting work performed at heights or in confined spaces using appropriate ladders and equipment, traveling to construction sites and performing physical labor as needed, and performing other duties as assigned by project leads or supervisors. Requirements include high school graduate or equivalent preferred, reliable transportation to and from work sites, physical capability of lifting 50+ pounds, working at heights, and in confined spaces, willingness and ability to work in all weather conditions including extreme heat or cold, comfortable working 40+ hours per week with overtime and night shifts as needed, punctuality, dependability, detail orientation, repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers for manual tasks, ability to work from ladders, scaffolds, and elevated platforms up to 90 ft, ownership and bringing of required hand tools to the job, application for and maintenance of an Electrical Apprentice License, and commitment to safety and learning proper trade practices under supervision. Physical abilities required include frequent crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, and sitting, routinely lifting and carrying heavy objects over 50 pounds, repetitive arm, hand, and finger movement for tool use, and working in both open construction areas and confined environments.
