The Care Promoter 1 is an unlicensed medical professional cross-trained to perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical centers running smoothly. The duties of Care Promoter 1 vary from setting to setting, depending on the size, location and type. In addition to administrative duties, Care Promoters perform clinical duties under direct physician supervision in accordance with state medical practice acts. The Care Promoter 1 is an integral member of a Physician-lead Care Team that is focused on providing excellent and comprehensive primary care for a specific population of patients. Essential job duties include measuring and recording patient vital signs, recording patient interview and medical history, cataloging and communicating patient needs to clinical personnel, preparing patients for examinations, performing routine screening tests, assisting physicians with exams, explaining treatment procedures and physicians' instructions to patients, observing patients and reporting changes, performing non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures, collecting lab specimens, performing basic lab tests, preparing and administering medications, changing dressings, applying bandages, removing sutures, using CPR skills when necessary, maintaining supplies and equipment, practicing OSHA safety standards, performing accurate documentation, processing patient phone messages, calling patients to relay information, calling in prescriptions upon physician approval, providing health coaching, and performing other duties as assigned. Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, exceptional communication and organizational skills, ability to collaborate with team members, problem-solving mindset, knowledge of medical products and terminology, basic phone and computer operation skills, detail orientation, ability to maintain organized systems, ability to act calmly in stressful situations, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and willingness to travel locally or regionally up to 10%. Education and experience criteria include a high school diploma or equivalent, graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare vocational training, a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience or documented clinical rotation training, experience with geriatric patients is a plus, EMR system experience preferred, and Basic Life Support certification required within the first 90 days of employment.
