Position Description

The Cost Accounting Manager is responsible for maintaining and assisting with cost accounting processes, analysis and explanation of variances, assistance with budgets and forecasts, Aged Inventory, Customer Billbacks, Supplier Rebate accruals and maintenance, Standard Cost Validation and Scrap Factor calculation and Operations team assistance among other miscellaneous tasks. This position requires strong accounting and analytic skills. This position works closely with procurement, accounting, operations and FP&A staff to maintain and enhance the company’s processes to understand and report manufacturing costs. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Cost Accounting.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide monthly variance analysis and explanations over Aged inventory to FP&A, Supply Chain and other business partners
  • Manage the reporting and analysis of aged Inventory in collaboration with Supply Chain, Commercial and other relevant business partners
  • Validation of material standard costs
  • Support the budget and forecast process (material cost build and analysis, supplier rebate forecasting and other ad hoc support)
  • Oversee calculations for Lower of Cost or Market reserves, obsolescence reserves and other valuation reserves to ensure inventories are accounted and recorded in accordance with IFRS
  • Ensure supplier rebate programs are correctly calculated and recorded
  • Maintain and analyze scrap factors on our bill of materials
  • Maintain documentation of departmental processes
  • Work with auditors for the requests for information and help with SOX control implementation and maintenance

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience with SAP S4 Hana
  • Excellent accounting and analytical skills
  • Proficient in Excel and Word, and able to learn other software applications
  • Strong team player who is able to work across multiple functions
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Results oriented with a sense of urgency, able to work under deadline pressures.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Very organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks with changing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written
  • Adaptable to change

Education and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA preferred
  • 4-7 years financial experience required
  • Experience working with cost accounting in an SAP environment

Working Conditions:

  • Physical Demands– Continuously sitting for prolonged periods
  • Visual/Sensory – This position requires attention to detail, requiring attention with one or two senses at a time.
  • Work environment – Work and environment fasted paced, requiring ability to remain focused under pressure.
  • Mental Stress – There is pronounced pressure from deadlines, project management, accuracy or similar demands.

Travel Requirements:

  • Based in Tampa corporate office with minimal travel requirements.
