SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, facilitates the maintenance of overall operations, upkeep, safety and security of parks, pathways, playground equipment, picnic areas and other amenities while enforcing park policies and rules. This position reports to the Parks Operations Manager and is a working supervisory position that will assist in daily operations, special
event coordination and support.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The job description is subject to change at any time by the employer. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Conducts interviews, hires, supervises, and evaluates employees; assists, supports, and mentors staff; communicates and enforces Department and County policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates daily grounds work activities including pathway maintenance and facilities preventative maintenance.
    Performs winter maintenance activities including ice rink maintenance and snow removal.
  • Routinely inspects areas and documents items related to parks, pathways and facilities in order
    to set daily operational tasks.
  • Develops and maintains parks, pathways and facilities inventory to assist with long term care and
    development.
  • Assists in developing and managing budget and exercising purchasing authority for areas under their direct
    supervision.
  • Assists in long term development of parks, pathways and facilities and reviewing of development
    plans.
  • Supports the relationship between the Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Turf Sciences, Agronomy, Horticulture or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years in facility or grounds maintenance related operations and/or management.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience.

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must possess or ability to obtain a valid Wyoming/Idaho Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and
    maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Certified Pesticide Applicator license or obtain within two years.


Required Knowledge of:

  • Department and County policies and procedures.
  • Safety rules and regulations, occupational hazards, and safety precautions.
  • Methods and techniques related to turf care, irrigation systems maintenance and athletic field care.
  • Inventory tracking, records maintenance, and reporting.
  • Teton County policies and procedures.


Required Skills in:

  • Providing supervision and delegating tasks.
  • Performing general maintenance work as needed to support staff.
  • Operating a personal computer utilizing standard software, and some specialized software.
  • Compiling and maintaining records and reports
  • Effective communication skills with staff and the public to ensure conflict resolution.


Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions; requires constant physical efforts and
    may be exposed to dangerous tools and equipment; safety precautions must be followed, including use of safety equipment.
