CSCI, a trusted classified environment partner for over 30 years, is seeking an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) with 4-6 years of experience in information security, information technology, enterprise risk or compliance field to join our cybersecurity team. This role provides strategic coordination across information security functions, ensuring strong inter-team collaboration, operational efficiency, and risk management for diverse national security programs. The ISSO will work with a small team to solve problems and explore new technologies to support client needs onsite. The ISSO will advise the client, leading the discovery of their cyber risks, understanding applicable policies, and developing a mitigation plan. The ISSO will guide the client through a plan of action with presentations, whitepapers, and milestones. The client will rely on the ISSO to translate security concepts, enabling them to make informed decisions to secure their mission-critical systems. This position requires presence in a professional office setting in Springfield, VA, Monday through Friday. Responsibilities The candidate's responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Implement and maintain a Continuous Monitoring program aligned with RMF and NIST SP 800-137 guidelines. Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans of information systems. Monitor security controls and their effectiveness in real-time . Analyze security-related information to identify trends and potential threats. Prepare and maintain documentation for security status reporting. Collaborate with system owners and other stakeholders to address security findings and implement remediation plans. Assist in the development and updating of System Security Plans (SSPs) and other RMF documentation. Stay current with evolving cybersecurity threats, technologies, and compliance requirements. Participate in incident response activities as needed. Skills - Minimum of 4 Years Experience Required Qualifications: This position will require presence in a professional office setting in Springfield, VA, 5 days per week, Mon - Fri. US Citizenship is required. An active DoD security clearance (minimum Secret, prefer Top Secret). DoD 8140/8570 IAM level II (Security+ Certification, condition of employment). Minimum 4 years of experience in information security, information technology, enterprise risk or compliance field. Knowledge of and hands-on experience with CMMC, FedRAMP, and NIST 800-53/NIST 800-171 audits and attestations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with various stakeholders. Experience with Splunk. Strong understanding of network security principles, system hardening techniques, and vulnerability management. Experience with vulnerability scanning tools and security logging/monitoring. Education: HS diploma or GED and 8+ years of experience supporting IT projects and activities, Associate's degree and 5+ years of experience supporting IT projects and activities, or Bachelor's degree in computer science, cyber security or information technology, and 4+ years of experience supporting IT projects and activities. Preferred Qualifications: CISSP certification. An Active DoD Top Secret Clearance. Familiarity with Federal information security regulations and guidelines (e.g., FISMA, FedRAMP). Experience Levels: LEVEL 1 - Entry Level and a minimum of 1 year of work experience in a professional environment. LEVEL 2 - requires a minimum of 2 years related experience. LEVEL 3 - requires a minimum of 5 years related experience. LEVEL 4 - requires a minimum of 8 years related experience. LEVEL 5 - requires a minimum of 10 years related experience. * This position qualifies as a level 2.
