Job Description

Post Haste is a New American cocktail bar and restaurant in the Fishtown/East Kensington area that focuses on local and seasonal sourcing. We are one of Esquire's Best Bars in America 2024 and one Eater Philly's 15 essential cocktail bars. We work to reduce the typical restaurant carbon footprint with our approach to sourcing, sustainable practice, and curiosity. We are an ingredient-driven kitchen.

We are hiring a career-oriented Line Cook with a strong work ethic and positive attitude. Led by Chef Ari Miller, we are an innovative, from-scratch kitchen specializing in doughs, sauces, fermentation, and curiosity. This is an excellent opportunity for a hard working individual interested in a dynamic and supportive kitchen. Interest and love of local farms and food ways is a huge plus!

This is a full time position, 5 shifts per week, Wednesday through Sunday. You are expected to prep, set, inventory and clean with at least one year experience in a casual fine-dining restaurant. Our team is small, ambitious and every member is significant. 

Job Duties

  1. Communicate openly and effectively. This is a team environment, and we thrive by helping each other openly and proactively.
  2. The line cooks is responsible to prep and maintain their designated station with integrity and cleanliness, maintaining a daily prep list.
  3. Cook, plate, garnish, and expedite dishes as needed, working with the Chef.
  4. Work clean, and assist with both nightly and monthly deep clean projects.
  5. Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
  6. Contribute to daily staff meal and have the opportunity to eat staff meal prior to each service.
  7. There will be opportunity to participate in menu and dish development.

Job Expectations

  1. Ability to follow recipes/menu items and communicate any problems that arise.
  2. You are responsible to prepare dishes with speed, efficiency and consistency.
  3. Minimize waste, looking for opportunities to cross-utilize ingredients, in conversation with Chef.
  4. Ensure that all work areas are clean and organized.
  5. Ensure that all food products are stored properly; and completing cleaning and organizational duties as assigned.
  6. Easy, friendly and positive communication with supervisors and coworkers.
  7. Ability to efficiently set up and maintain workstation.
  8. Ability to handle average amounts of prep work and work 2-3 stations with little or no difficulty and minimal assistance.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Must be a team player with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
  2. Must be able to work flexible hours and days, 5 days a week.
  3. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  4. Minimum of 1 year experience as a line cook or intern/extern. We will consider all experiences and education.
  5. Interest and knowledge of sustainability practices, with creative thinking in ingredient preparation and preservation, especially in relation to food waste, is valued. This is not a requirement, but a willingness to learn about these things will be required.
  6. Experience and passion about vegetarian and vegan dishes is preferred.
