Job Description

Position Responsibilities: + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment. + Update patient information and collect/store specimens according to established procedures. + Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal). + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles. + Fully understand and follow physicians' orders. + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. + Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels match the script with 100% accuracy. + Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature. + Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label them, and follow specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport. + Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. + Attend annual department training sessions. + Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Minimum Qualifications: + Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (required in some states). + Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. + High School Diploma or GED. + 2-4 years of experience. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.11 - $23.11/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
